I purchased the Close to My Heart Art Philosophy Cricut cart but have not used it very much, which is a shame, since it is loaded with wonderful stuff. I wanted to scrap this photo of the kids and noticed this CTMH Typeset paper in my pile. My kids were going into 7th and 9th grades this year, so I thought the paper would be great for the LO. I pulled out the cart and looked for a tag to use for the photo. Found one I liked and also some banner and oval frames and let the cutting begin! A very simple page but I wanted the paper's features to shine as well as the kids!

Mud Run

My son and I had an absolute blast sloshing through mud and navigating muddy obstacles at a Mud Run on June 18th. One of my girlfriend's put together a team and we eagerly signed up. We were labeled team "Dirty Bitches" and my son was "Son of a Dirty Bitch" (our shirts got rave reviews). We braved 3.5 miles of muck and came out a mess but had so much fun doing it we plan to sign up again next year!

I used Martha Stewart's Drippy Goo punch on the LO in an attempt to recreate dripping mud. You have to really experience the mud run in person, though, to get the real effect!

Searchin' 4 The Perfect Tree

After going out to breakfast, we set off to get our Christmas tree. We had a gorgeous morning for our hunt (usually we are searching in a downpour).

I used Mosaic Moments Grid paper to help me line up my mosaic tiles of the trees.

Every year I like to create a layout featuring our Christmas card. This is our 2011 card. Since the kids are standing in front of the Christmas tree, I wanted to use some of the ornaments as elements on the layout.

I used Tami Potter's double sided tape and added glitter to it for a little extra bling. And my base paper is Mosaic Moments Grid paper. The grids really help with spacing my 1x1 tiles perfectly!

Holiday Projects

I finished up a couple holiday projects this weekend!

I made this fun holiday garland. Jessica Sprague offered a free Holiday Memories this week. I used my cricut to cut out the stars, circles and scallops. Jessica provided the templates for the dates and the photo circles. I picked out a bunch of Christmas memories and dropped them into the template, printed the photo circles, punched them out and adhered them to the scallops. There are photos on both sides. I need to finish the class and make the box to store my garland in. So fun!
I love the projects on the DCWV blog! Erin posted this cute project a couple weeks ago and I knew I had to do it! I used a DCWV stack from last year and adhered my rolls to a canvas I got at Joann's (that I painted and modge podged). I cut the bird out with my cricut. And I colored my own twill ribbon by spraying plain ribbon with water and then running Distress Ink along the ribbon until I was happy with the color. This project is a nice addition to my mantel this year.

I love DCWV's Stack-a-holic Template Challenges!

I used the Natural Stack to scrap this photo of my dad. My mom unearthed the original the last year and I scanned it and had it printed at Costco. We have no idea what year the photo was taken.

I think my son bears a striking resemblance to his gramps!

Since I am in a crafting mode and my scrap room floor is littered with paper right now, I decided to make some book marks for the craft fair (and use some stuff from my stash and clean my floor in the process!).

These rosettes were simple easy to do make using Tim Holtz's Mini Paper Rosette's Die Strip. Just ran the paper through my Cuttlebug, and it comes out perforated for easy folding.

I added some buttons and baker's twine and hot glued the rosettes to giant paper clips.

Quick and easy and cute!

I have been busy making desktop calendars for the upcoming craft fair. I am making them in 2 different sizes and using some different papers for variety.

The above calendars fit into business card sized CD cases.

The 2 calendars above and the ones below are examples of the calendars I made that fit into standard CD cases.

I love this flower embellishment. I can't remember where I got the idea but it is one of my favorites. I punched 10 scalloped circles from an old phone book, put them together with a brad, scrunched the layers up and misted with glimmer mist.

Last summer I went to the Scrapbook Expo in Puyallup and took a couple of classes. One class featured the newish Post-it Craft Paper by 3M. The repostionable papers come in lots of colors and are wonderful with the cricut.

I have been waiting to find the right pictures to put into 2 of the LO's I made in my class. These cute pictures from Mother's Day with me and all my kids, were great for one of the LO's.
The other LO worked great for a new photo and old photo of me on the PLU campus.

Challenge #6 is an altered item. Well, I altered a wreath form! I saw a really cute wreath on the DCWV blog last week and had to try it. I started it yesterday and got it finished this morning. Just in time for our challenges! It is a rather time consuming project--cutting paper strips, making loops and hot gluing it all together. Not sure I will do it again but at least this one is done!

Wow! I have not posted any projects in awhile. I have been busy making LO's but I have been too lazy to photograph them and post them!!! I am really trying to get my 2010 family album finished up. The pages I have left to do are for events that I have taken too many photos & I have trouble paring down my pictures. So I am a little stalled out right now. I could do them digitally--it is so easy to drop the pix into templates and resize and be done but I am not sure I want to go that route. Decisions, decisions, decisions......

Thankfully, Shawn and Sarah are hosting our NSSS challenge this weekend so I can get my creative mojo going. These cards I am posting are using up 1 x 4 inch paper strips from a wreath I finished this morning. Gotta use those scraps. And the stamped images are from a NSSS swap we did a couple years ago. I still have a huge stash of images.

Our Not So Secret Sister group is having an online crop with challenges this weekend. Thanks so much Danielle and sisters for putting this together. There are 8 challenges. I used my "Extreme" birthday card from yesterday for Challenge #5--use a new cartridge.
This card is for Challenge #4-go to the Message Board and find a project you like. I found a blog through the MB, Creative High, and I saw a card I really liked. It inspired me to pull out a set of stamps and nestie dies I bought at CKC that I had not tried yet. I have a friend having a surgery next week, so I made a get well card for her.

This card is for Challenge #8--a valentine card. I tried making a paper rosette. Been wanting to do one of these for a while.

I finally made into my craft room and got some crafting done. (Actually, I did a few LO's during Christmas break but never got photo taken to post them....)
Used a PageMaps' sketch for this picture heavy LO of our Thanksgiving Day fun!

DS has a birthday tomorrow!!! I wanted to use my new Dude cricut cart to make him a special card for his 14th birthday.

And one of his friend's has a birthday tomorrow, so I created this card for her. Papercraft Star had a tutorial today showing how to make this really wonderful and easy flower. I had to try it out!

It felt good to be a bit creative. Now back to laundry, bills, cookings, errands, etc......

I have been documenting a day in my life every month this year. Here is the entry for December (I still need to complete the LO for November). I used a new template this month, from Design House Digital and used paper and elements from 300DPI's "Tis the Season" digi kit. I am not sure if I will continue with the 12 of 12 project in 2011 but I did have fun doing my digi LO's every month and trying my hand at new skills/techniques.

I have been busy wrapping packages--here is a sampling of what I am doing this year. Some small items are going into "sour cream" packaging with tags I embellished with cuts from Jolly Holidays and ornaments I made from coasters. Other items are going into brown lunch bags and being topped with bag toppers and loopy bows. Large items are being wrapped in brown kraft paper and topped with more loopy bows. It is fun having coordinated packages and making my own bows this year is a joy!

I have been reading Tim Holtz's 12 Tags of Christmas this week. Wow--have I been inspired. I wish I had his genius (and access to all those products).
The challenge this week at Papercraft Star is to create an altered holiday gift, card or scrapbook layout using recycled or repurposed items you already have on hand. I used the plastic clamshell from a new cricut cart, dabbed it with alcohol inks and embossed it with the cuttlebug. Good way to use that packaging instead of tossing it! I also found some little tags that I bought years ago that I recolored with Distress Ink and adhered to the larger tag. And for a final bit of recylcing, I cut up some fabric strips and sprayed them with Glimmer Mist to make my own ribbon. Tim has a grunge look....I have a "wonky" look!

I am planning to make several of these 2011 calendars to give as gifts for the holidays. I used the Better Together Imagine cartridge to create the background design and a calendar template from the internet. I placed my finished calendar into a CD case. A quick and easy (and inexpensive) gift. I plan to submit this to My Creative Time: Imagination Nation's gift challenge

I did this LO using my Imagine and the Country Carnival cart. I printed out my own paper and ran it through my printer for the text on the page. I plan to submit this LO to the Imagine Nation Monday Challenge. The challenge this time was to use buttons--I punched some from my printed paper with my MS button punch and used other buttons from my stash. I just got several colors of baker's twine this week, so I used a couple of my new colors, too!

I went to the CKC in Bellevue last week in came upon the Lea France booth. I was unfamiliar with their products and method of French Photo Collage scrapbooking. I was facinated! I watched the demo for a bit and then bought a couple of the templates. This is my first attempt, using the Quilt Stencil. I can see lots of possibilities for these in the future!

I was also creating this LO for My Creative Time's Throwback Thursday Cricut-less Challenge. No Cricut/No Gypsy! (oops--after I finished and linked the project, I discovered it was supposed to include "Thanks" in it--missed that part.) I had fun creating without using my technology today!

Papercraft Star has another great challenge this week. I have had time to do much crafting but did get put together a card for the challenge.
Here are the requirements:
Make a Holiday Card or Tag that features a Christmas Tree or Ornament, Use the Cricut or Other Die Cut on your project, Add Ribbon, Add Handmade Embellishment, Add Bling, (use anything additional you desire)
I made the Christmas tree by tearing strips of holiday PP and layering the strips with MS branch punch pieces from glitter paper. I cut the layered strips into a tree shape and added a blinged star to the top and a cuttlebugged trunk. I used Noel ribbon and layered Nesties die cuts to frame my sentiment. I added glitter around the edges of both Nestie layers and used Viva Decor glitter liner to add dots to the top layer around the white card base and star.

Papercraft Star's challenge for this week is a photo inspiration. Create a holiday card, tag, LO, etc based on this summer photo....
I saw the white scalloped trims and eyelets and striped fabric, as well as the blues and greens and I came up with the following Christmas card. I have never created an easel card before (don't know why--it was easy peasy) so thought I would do that and add some ornaments, using the SU ornament stamp/punch set I got last year.

I finally sat down and put together my September 12 of 12 LO. I used a free digi kit I downloaded from Summertime Designs called "Dryer Lint at Tiffany's". I love the kits from Summertime Designs. They are chock full of great papers and elements. And they are free!

For my October LO, I used another kit from Summertime Designs called "A BOO-tiful Night". I focused on the candy elements since I had a photo of my candy corn hate. There are great Halloween papers and spooky elements in this kit too. I had such a crazy day in October, I forgot to take all 12 photos--but I just filled in the blanks with patterned papers. I like the finished LO!

This Martha Stewart photo is the inspiration challenge for Papercraft Star this week. The bowls of nuts and the earthy colors grabbed my attention.

This is my final product!
Valerie Salmon's card sketch 105 was the base for the card. I pulled out Winter Woodland and Create A Critter Cricut cartridges for my squirrel, nuts and word art. I used the cuttlebug to give the squirrel's tail some detail and the nut caps. I found some great wood grain paper in the DCVW Green Stack (nuts/trees/squirrels...). And again used my newish MS laurel punch.

I made this card for 2 challenges! Pink Cricut was having a challenge to create something using the Imagine and a stamped imagine. Papercraft Star's challenge is a Thank you theme using dry embossing, cricut/die cut & metal. I combined all that into this card. Used the Imagine to print and cut the layered flower. Embossed a metal sheet with a cuttlebug "Many Thanks" folder and stamped a sentiment on the tag. Added some stickles, glossy accents and pop dots for dimesion (and my white pen)!

Maggie got braces! They sure do change her appearance. I did not know she was going to get braces at this appt so I did not take my camera. One of the gals in the office was really sweet and let me use the office digital camera to take pix and then she emailed them to me. That is good customer service!

I used a Sketchy Thursdays sketch as inspiration for my LO. Their challenge was to also use a punch (used my new Martha Stewart crackle edge punch) & to have some orange in the LO (I have several shades featured). Check out Maggie's cool orange shades!

Altered project

For my NSSS group, a few of us are doing an elfster swap. We are supposed to alter an item and send a few goodies to our partner. I saw this great tutorial at Crop Stop on using metal in the cuttlebug, so I got some and gave it a try. I used my new Tim Holtz embossing folders to emboss the metal, distressed the colored side with a sanding block and used terrifficly tacky tape to adhere the metal sheets to the can. I added a few brads to bling it up a bit and wrapped some SU twine around the top and bottom. I think this would be great for pens/pencils/

markers/scissors....Hope my partner likes it. I had fun making it.

I got a new camera for Mother's Day and it has a great digital zoom on it. I have had the best time getting close ups of the hummingbirds that feed at the feeder hanging from the deck.

Bearylish on the Cricut MB designed a great sketch and this is my version of the sketch. I have also used it for my SDU class, since it is such a great design!

The mountains are covered with glitter to emulate snow! I used the newish 3M Craft Paper, cut out my shape, pulled off the adhesive backing and sprinkled the fine & coarse glitter on the adhesive and smooshed it down. Did this LO as an example for my SDU class-I have been giving students a sketch each week and I also scrap the sketch.

I was playing around with Just Because Cards cartridge and the MS loopy punch and came up with this card. I used the Viva Decor pearl pen for the dots on the label. And my trusted white pen for the stitching lines.

I can't remember what cart I used for this card!!! I used a MS flower punch to punch a variety of flowers so I could layer them on the card. And I added silver and yellow Viva Decor pearl pen dots for accents.

My new Cricut Imagine has arrived. I was surprised at how big and heavy it is. I have not had much time to play with it. I did make 3 quick cards--this cutie is the only one left. I already gave away the others. One went to my parents, who were amazed that it was a handmade card!

For this card I flooded a background shape with a design, cut it out, & also cut out the medallion. Used a stamp from My Pink Stamper/Robyn's set and tried out my new Viva Decor pearl pens (love them). Finishing touch--the trusty white pen!

I cannot believe Halloween is right around the corner (and that means Thanksgiving and Christmas are close behind---yikes)!!! I stumbled onto a fun challenge site and thought I would play along with their challenge this week. Papercraft Star has a card challenge this week and while I don't do many cards or stamping, I thought I would whip up a quick spooky one to get me ready for the scary season ahead!

I finished this LO today. We had such a good time at the Armed Forces Day parade in Bremerton in May. Living in a Navy community, our military events and celebrations are really done right!

I am going to be doing some scrapping demo's at Michael's in a couple weeks as part of my SDU "job". This card is one of the demos I will be doing. I made up a sample to make sure I knew what I was making! I added a few extra details--I love my white pen and I thought the card needed some rhinestones!

On the Scrapguy's blog today, he featured a wonderful card. I had to scraplift a couple of ideas from it--the pleated paper and tying a ribbon through a button. I had not tried those techniques before. Very easy and effective. I ended up making 3 cards since they were also fast to assemble. I will put sentiments on them when I use them. Thanks, Scrapguy!!!!

The kids went back to school this week. Boy did the 10 weeks of summer fly by fast. I took my traditional first day of school pictures and Sketches! {by tamara} had a great challenge sketch that fit my pictures. 300 dpi was offerring a free digi kit "Hittin' the Books II" & I thought it was a perfect kit for my photos.

I was invited to my friend, Kelly's baby shower. Time to decide what to make. I love to knit baby hats, especially the flower hats for girls. Griff helped me with the design (I was running out of yellow and he suggested the white stripe). I have had this denim jacket in my collection for quite awhile, waiting for the right child. When I got Kelly's invite, the time was right to start sewing! I have never used my cricut to cut fabric but it was really easy. I designed my project with the gypsy. So/sew simple! Used fabric and ribbon and floss from my stash and ran across these great buttons at Wal-Mart.

I think Emelia is going to look smashing as she sports this one of a kind jacket on the playground in a couple of years!

I want one in my size!

Summer must be here because my flowers are finally beginning to bloom. This LO features a few of my fav blossoms. I am submitting this LO to Sketchy Thursdays August Design Team challenge! I had an awful realization on a Sunday a couple weeks ago mid morning--I forgot to start my 12 0f 12 photos. So I grabbed the camera and Maggie reminded me that it was Sunday, June 13th! I completely missed the 12th! So, I took it all in stride and did my 12 photos on the 13th! I used a new kit "The Guy Kit" that I got from

300dpi.com--it contains a lot of Father's Day elements and since June celebrates dads, I thought the paper was appropriate. I also used a new template this month. I got it from Urban Mom Scraps.

The kids needed to give some cards to a few teachers to thank them for putting up with them this year. So this is what I came up with last night. Used a cuttlebug folder, Create a Critter for the Ewe and my new My Pink Stamper Punny-Licious stamps that I ordered from Crafts To Favor (they were fast and have Facebook specials). Just need to run out and get a couple of Starbucks cards for 2 of them and throw a MK gift together for the other and I'm done with teacher gifts!

The music teacher at our school is retiring. She has been teaching for 38 years. My kids have learned a lot from her. I am also giving her a pair of hand knit socks so she will always remember our family whenever she wears the socks! We will miss her.

Persnickety Prints has a free digi kit by Deena Rutter and has a layout contest. I really like Deena's designs and this kit is no exception. Sketchy Thursdays posted a great sketch this week that I thought would work great with the papers in the kit. I wanted to use the Love, Love, Love word art and I found a photo of Maggie and Muffin from last year that I thought fit the sentiment.

Father's Day

I made this picture frame for the kids to give to their dad for Father's Day. I scraplifted the idea from the Scrapguy (he has awesome projects and ideas). He did a guest post for Everyday Cricut a few weeks ago, using Holiday Cakes for the cuts. I had just gotten the cart, mainly for Father's Day projects, so his project was a perfect scraplift opp for me! Thanks, Bryan!

For the card, I decided to use the leftover cuts from the license plate and paper from the frame background. No sense letting good pieces go to waste...

There were too many letters for the front of the card, so I finished off the inside.

Now, I need to make a card for my dad and I have Father's Day wrapped up (ahead of time for a change).

Maggie has been having a ton of fun jumping with Roy at her lessons. Dawn and Britney pulled out the camera a couple weeks ago and got some shots of them in action. Roy alledgedly has arthritis but he sure does not look like it as he goes over those risers.
